Welcome to the Summer 2020 Newsletter of Brendan’s Australian Tours.

The 2020 tours itineraries have been released are now available for your consideration.
I invite you to look at the tour list where we will visit every state in Australia, including our tour of spectacular Norfolk Island, visiting Singapore, and returning to the land of the long white cloud for a 19 day tour of beautiful New Zealand.

Pick up and return to home service.Brendan’s Australian Tours continues to offer the pick-up and return to home service for each tour and there is no doubt it is extremely popular with our travellers. This service enables people to travel without the worries of meeting the coach, where to park a vehicle, and getting back home at the completion of the tour. Even if you are considering one of our fly in or fly out options, Brendan’s Australian Tours still offer the same pickup and return to home service to and from the airport.

Melbourne and Beyond. In early March a 6 day tour to Melbourne the Werribee Zoo, Millionaire Hot Seat, the Melbourne Star Observation Wheel is planned. Included with the tour is a visit to the Dandenongs, the Cuckoo Restaurant, William Ricketts Sanctuary, Cloudehill Nursery, Rayner’s Fruit Orchard, Melbourne Botanic Gardens, the State Library and St Paul’s Cathedral.

Norfolk Island. Brendan’s Australian Tours relaxing 10 day tour to historical Norfolk Island leaving mid-April 2020 is a wonderful opportunity to visit this sub-tropical magical island with its 360 degree island views. If you can imagine a lush, beautiful island with sandy beaches, pristine water, jagged cliffs and tall Norfolk Island pines Norfolk Island is such a place. This green island paradise is found in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean, and is just 35 square kilometres in size with 32km of coast line. Many of the people who call Norfolk Island home today are the Pitcairners who are descendants of the “Bounty” mutineers and so the story of the Bounty forms a lively and entertaining part of this tour. On Norfolk Island there are no railways, port or harbours, or even any busy roads. There are eighty kms of lane ways across the island and cows and even the roosters still have the right of way. When supplies come by ship, jetties on either side of the Island are used to send small boats out to the bigger ships to ferry in 5 tonnes of supplies at a time. A passport is no longer required if you are considering a visit to Norfolk Island.

Kangaroo Island. In early April we offer a 6 day tour to Kangaroo Island the island steeped in history dating back to 1802 when it was first sighted by Captain Matthew Flinders. The island with 509km of coastline and 155km from the East coast to the West coast boasts native bushland, wildlife, pristine beaches, local wines and beautiful sunsets are on our doorstep. Kangaroo Island is one of South Australia's most popular tourist attractions, attracting over 140,000 visitors each year, with international visitors, primarily from Europe, accounting for more than 25% of these visits. Highlights of this tour include Flinders Chase National Park, which includes Remarkable Rocks, Cape Willoughby, The Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery which manufactures eucalyptus oil using a very old furnace, Australian sea lions, Hope Cottage Folk Museum and Clifford’s Honey Farm.

Singapore. Each year Brendan’s Australian Tours over 10 exciting days has toured Singapore, and what an outstanding success the tours have been. This tour with its 5 star luxury accommodation again will visit this spotlessly clean and safe city. The tour will give travellers the opportunity to discover the luxuriant glory of the gardens of Singapore, which reinvented itself in the last decade as a “City in a Garden”.  In 2020 the tour is timed to be in beautiful Singapore to coincide with the wonderful Singapore Gardens Festival which is held every 2 years. We will see world class show gardens, flower displays, entertainment, and tropical brilliance. Apart from the Gardens Festival the tour incorporates the very best there is to see in Singapore. The tour has exceptional highlights including the World Heritage listed Botanic Gardens with their incomparable orchid collection, the Singapore Zoo which is a real delight, Gardens by the Bay, the S.E.A aquarium presents over 100,000 marine animals. At the world's largest aquarium there is a chance to see glowing sea animals and stunning light art installations. Sea Jellies, colourful corals and mysterious deep sea creatures brought to life in a mystical holographic experience like no other. This amazing Singapore tour has an English speaking guide throughout.

Sydney City and the Blue Mountains. Over 8 Days we visit Sydney and what better way to see this exciting city than in the comfort of the Brendan’s Australian Tours luxury coach. While on this tour the Sydney accommodation is staying at the premium Novatel Hotel right in the middle of Darling Harbour and with its unbelievable views is 5 star or better. Refer to the tour on the itineraries page of this website and you will see that the tour to Sydney does not miss all the very best there is to see in this busy city. From Sydney we visit Katoomba with its magnificent views across the Jamieson Valley, the Blue Mountains most spectacular landmark  the “Three Sisters”, Meenhi, Wimlah and Gunnedoo then on to Bathurst where relaxing in the coach we can sit back for a leisurely drive around the Mt Panorama car racing circuit.

Stunning Bright in Autumn. On our Bright tour in late April last year, the timing was perfect, resulting in the magnificent autumn colours in Bright being on show for us all to enjoy. In 2020 my May tour will go to Bright a week later, and although we rely on nature, we will certainly time it to catch the autumn leaf colours for which Bright is renowned. This tour also visits Harrietville, Mt Buffalo, Mt Buller and the historic Northeast Victorian towns of Yackandandah and Beechworth.

Cairns. With our careful planning Brendan’s Australian Tours is giving you the opportunity to miss some of the cold June winter climate in Victoria. The dates of my 3 Cairns tours are specifically designed to take advantage of the best of the Queensland warm winter. 3 lengths of tour are offered, with your choice of 14 days, 16 days and 26 days. The 26 days tour titled “Carpentaria to Cairns and Australia’s Stunning East Coast” visits the Gulf of Carpentaria, the warm and shallow expanse of water, bordered by Queensland to the east, the Northern Territory to the west and the Arafura Sea to the north. From there tropical Cairns and the Barrier Reef awaits us, and if you look at the tour itinerary you will see we include the very best there is to be seen in Cairns. Leaving Cairns the journey south allows our travellers to see some of Australia’s picture perfect beaches, the fabulous east coast and at the Gold Coast the breathtaking Australia Outback Spectacular show. With this tour the highlights continue with visits to Byron Bay, Tamworth and the Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo. May I refer you to the itineraries, on the Tours and Prices page please to see exactly what Brendan’s Australian Tours has on offer for the 3 Cairns tours?

Cape York and Thursday Island. This is one of the more remote parts of Australia that many people wish to see. Cape York certainly is one of the Australia’s last wilderness areas many people wish to experience. So to visit Cape York and Thursday Island, Brendan’s Australian Tours has two 4 wheeled drive 10 day tours planned. The first is in late May 2020 and the second in early September 2020. If you were thinking of booking either of these tours it is important that potential travellers need to keep in mind both these tours will book out very quickly. Travellers considering either of the 10 day tours should have a reasonable level of fitness and because of room constraints in the 4 wheeled drive bus, a wheeled walker cannot be carried. On these tours the usual pick up from home service applies, and passengers are flown to Cairns where the 4WD tour and adventure starts. From Cairns right until you stand right on the most Northern tip of Australia before crossing across to Thursday Island there are highlights to experience every day. Cape Tribulation, Cooktown, Weipa, the beautiful water at Fruit Bat Falls and an overnight stay at a true blue cattle station are just a few of the wonderful highlights. At the conclusion of the tour on Horn Island, passengers are then are flown home again via Cairns after 10 days "at the top". If you have an interest in either of these tours in 2020, please register this with Brendan now, as these tours continues to be booked out as soon as they are advertised.

The NT & WA favourites are a must again. The tours list for 2020 again includes the spectacular Northern Territory and Western Australian locations that those states are famous for. Darwin, The Kimberley, Broome, Coral Bay, Perth and the South West Coast are just a small number of the tourist areas that make up our itineraries. Again there are two shorter option tours to see the marvellous Kimberley and the West Coast of Australia. The 12 Days Darwin to Broome and the 14 Days Broome to Perth give travellers two different options to consider. The tour options are detailed on the Tours and Prices Page.

Darwin – Broome – The Kimberley. Travellers who perhaps are unable to get away for an extended period of time but would like to see the magical north of Australia, may consider the 12 day Darwin – Broome – The Kimberley tour in early august 2020. With this tour pick up from your home is arranged prior to being taken to Tullamarine. Then fly to Darwin where you join the coach tour for enchanting days visiting Darwin, Katherine, Wyndham, Geikie Gorge and the magical Broome. You are then flown home from Broome where Brendan’s Australian Tours meets you at Tullamarine airport and transports you to your home after a memorable 12 days in northern Australia.

The Canberra Floriade tour in late September 2020 again will have us in the nation’s capital right at a time to see a world-class floral spectacular and certainly Australia’s most stunning flower display in spring. With more than a million blooms, the tulips, irises, daffodils, hyacinths, violas, chrysanthemums, ranunculus and daisies among others are a real delight. But the tour is not all flowers, as we visit the extremely popular Cockington Green which is a delightful and fascinating display of meticulously handcrafted miniature buildings from around the world. Cockington Green is set within beautifully landscaped gardens and certainly is a must see in Canberra. The tour includes Government House, The War Memorial plus many of the important tourist locations in Canberra.

Broken Hill, White Cliffs, Bourke and Lightning Ridge. For 2020 one of our favourites, the 10 day tour to Broken Hill will then go on to include White Cliffs, Bourke for a river cruise, and Lightning Ridge. Departing late September, then touring in early October which will be the perfect time to visit the country right on the edge of the outback. Broken Hill really is a place of huge skies, red rocky earth, stunning landscapes and a fascinating and significant history. It is, Australia’s first heritage-listed city with its roots in the silver, lead and zinc mining industries. Broken Hill experienced great prosperity during the 19th century and the architecture of that period lives on to tell the tale. Because Broken Hill is Australia’s most accessible outback city, our tour will take travellers to all there is to see in Broken Hill, and of course there is plenty. The Broken Hill Sculpture Park, Pro Hart Gallery, a cruise on the Darling River at Bourke White’s Mineral Art and Mining Museum and of course the historic Silverton are just part of this edge of the outback tour. Then certainly those who have not been to the opal towns of White Cliffs and Lightning Ridge before, it is a great chance to experience why visitors have long been attracted to these colorful towns. Lightning Ridge is an area which is a world renowned centre of the mining of black opals and other opal gemstones, while White Cliffs is famous for its underground living and their opalised pineapples. There have only ever been between 300-500 of these found and the only place you can find them in the world is White Cliffs.

Sapphire Coast. The Sapphire Coast also known as the Bega Valley stretches from Bermagui in the north to the Victorian border just past Eden in the south. Brendan’s Australian Tours 9 Days Sapphire Coast tour departs on the 20th of November 2020 and the will give travellers the opportunity to experience this beautiful piece of the east coast of Australia. The tour goes via Lakes Entrance, and on through pristine East Gippsland forest country to Mallacoota and on to Eden. The tour includes Bega the most southerly coastal region in NSW with the area having a very rich dairy farming industry and Bega Cheeses which are famous both in Australia and overseas. The Mogo Zoo, cruises on Twofold Bay, The Gippsland Lakes and the Clyde River, are all included The return journey home includes Batemans Bay with overnight stops in Canberra and Albury.

Tasmania. The 10 day Tasmania tour in mid-October explores that state’s diverse and beautiful regions. Tasmania is an island of variations with its refreshing, clean air quality, incredible vegetation, native wildlife and convict history. There are numerous tour highlights including cruising Bass Strait, Launceston, Hobart, Port Arthur, the Gordon River, Burnie and Queenstown.
